Tips for fundraising success (copy only)

Keep it simple - The best fundraising projects are the simplest.

Be realistic and cost your event carefully. Keep a checklist so you know exactly what needs to be done at each stage.

Have fun! Choose an activity you will enjoy organising. If people see that you’re having a good time they are more likely to support you. Decide on a date.

Check the calendar for any clashes such as an important test match or a friend’s birthday! Work out a budget. Set yourself a fundraising target (be realistic)Share your story. If you have a personal reason for supporting the charity then share this with the local media as it will help bring your appeal to life and make it more engaging, which means the press will be more likely to feature the story.

Advertise your fundraising event. Tell everyone in your neighbourhood, social club, gym, office and so on. Put posters up in local shops. Contact your local paper and radio. Try to keep costs down. Ask local businesses to help out. For example they could donate raffle prizes or cover the cost of printing leaflets or posters about your event.

Thank everyone. Make contact with all donors and attendees after the event to let them know how much you’ve raised and thank them for their support.
