Mid summer walks along the river (part II)
Choices there, but focus on walk
There were choices for Saturday afternoon in the HTL house party. Boating was the first for our children. They were so keen to drive the boats! I love boating, river, and if one puts one’s feet in a lake or river or sea, that is heavenly enjoyable. Back my Chinese hometown, that can be a burning hot place in July and August, so close to the water to pass time has been one of the top choices for summer. On Saturday afternoon time didn’t permit for both boating and walking, so I went for my favourite walk along the river. There were houses there could provide B & B for tourists, I said to myself. Not to mention more about the sweet smell around the river, seeing the butterflies that would make you feel free. I heard that now the Chinese health and fitness days out are in mountains and lakes and do fragrance therapy as well, the fresh air intakes during a good walk makes you feel after a refreshing t&t.
The English, Japanese and the Chinese at midday sun
On the 2nd walk, with lovely couple friends and their lovely puppies, K & T, all could not wait to jump around, and down the river for a swimming? Heard someone mentioned about something was written by Noel Coward when travelling from Hanoi to Saigon, without a pen and paper and had the song all done in his mind, copied a few lines as below, (don’t think there is a copyright issue here):
Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun,
The Japanese don't care to, the Chinese wouldn't dare to,
Hindus and Argentines sleep firmly from twelve to one…
White swans swam away and said hello to us, 米仔兰 nodded to us and smiled to us, although not hearing Langlang but seemed to be in the air. After the refreshing ice cream we lost our direction – again lost in the mid summer dream!

Mid summer walks along the river
Rainbow
The glories on the sky showed the natural beauty that is after rains. It went after not too long but the memoires are there; the joy with the people around to appreciate it is more counted.
Walk our way to good health
This is the beautiful mid summer season in England. This season is for outdoors, two walks were kindly arranged along the river, beautiful white swans, small boats, cyclings, but more important was the choice. The walk in the mid summer that is so appropriate, one wouldn’t be able to walk that far during a frozen winter in Britain. We smelt the fragrance of 米仔兰, not many jasmine there, but that was the sunshine gave us much V D intakes, immediately our immune systems were strengthened.
As Health & Fitness column from Waitrose says: Use the extra hours of daylight to shake out the creases, put on a pair of comfortable shoes and fit in some walking to enjoy the sights and sounds this season has to offer.

Li Na and Murray season
Walked in Wimbledon yesterday, Li Na was defeated, well tried; keep the practice going, Na! I hope that one day you will realize your dream by learning from so many good players.

McILroy 's win
Being still in a busy season, only picked some videos to watch. Heard that McIlroy was a victory that was remarkable in so many ways. He was so controlled in his play that there were only 10 of the 72 holes he played that he did not reach the green in regulation figures, a US Open record. He led from start to finish, only the sixth man in 111 years to do that, became the youngest champion since Bobby Jones in 1923. McIlroy has much of the “boy next door” about him. Amazing to hear that he has charmed the world not only because he plays golf in a way that few can understand but because at the same time he has a character that seems almost without fault at the age of 22. There are some catching up to watch the whole game.
He said:“I think the course did me a few favors this week, with the condition of it,” he said. “If this golf course was firm and hard, I don’t think anyone could have got to 16-under par.… I said this on Friday, after I came out and everyone was talking about the lowest 36-hole score, the lowest this, the lowest that, I said, it’s nice, but I’ll be able to enjoy it a little bit more if I have the trophy on Sunday. And it’s worked out that way.”
A source says that McIlroy became the fifth straight international player to win a major, joining Charl Schwartzel, Martin Kaymer, Louis Oosthuizen and McDowell.

A driving lesson

The local Pro. is good at his teaching, professional, firm but friendly. Have checked three points last Sat.
Three points:1. club holding, right thumb straight pressing 2. after driving swings and head down, can turn left and facing the ball direction, 3. check the stand distance towards the tee. It added 2 metres to the length at some point. 7 is encouraged to use.

Focus Part 1 - strengthen oneself first
Hay Fever season in the UK. Nothing much has done for the charity project except some small tasks that keep the mind focused. Walked pass my local golf course after HTL service, extremely beautiful today, and the greens are fine although it has been pretty dry for a week or two in London.
Keeping healthy and fit is the key to stop further HF. Apart from power walking and joggings, some swimming should be on the way.

Eyes sight and golfing - eyesight problem
I am not in my immediate pursuit for perfection in golfing as I do not have enough time to do so, but I shouldn’t overlook the role vision plays in the game. My poor eyesight not only compromises my ability to read greens, it also may also affect my posture, throwing the head and shoulders out of proper alignment and damaging my swing. Therefore I am practicing T’aichi at Mingai after my Mandarin teaching in order to strengthen eyes’ health. I need practicing a few simple eye exercises to help correct the problem and hoping to improve my putting.
On the other hand, also note that just because one has excellent eyesight doesn't necessarily mean the eyes will work together to converge on the golf ball. I need to work out the problem when standing behind the ball to line up a putt checking the level with the horizon, in particular the greens’ direction.

Easter Cotswolds' walk
To reconnect to some early days spent in England, visited the lovely host family in the capital of Cotswolds, a full Easter holiday was in the historical Regency town. (Have to put aside the nuances of this meeting.)
Plenty of walks everyday, saw the local Gloucester Rugby team played yesterday on TV, horse racing events prove its maturity in event organization, some golfing breaks are on offer.
It is all possible to walk across two ends in Cheltenham town, such as in Oxford and Cambridge.

Power walking and jogging
(Yesterday, Will Young was running the Virgin London Marathon for Catch22 and he officially opened the marathon.)
Another beautiful day today in London. The putting area in Friern Park is still to be sorted out. In order to keep the golfing spirit balanced, I have been adding small jogs aiming for a 40 mins from home to the range, that is perfect for a 1/3 a weekly workout, power walk and jogs are on the way.
Recently, the heart health interests me a great deal. I knew that any consistent cardiovascular exercise will help improve endurance, strengthen muscles and reduce the risk of developing life threatening illnesses such as coronary heart disease, stroke. Power walking deliberately that is fast walking, and jogging are effective exercises which I want to alternate performing, this is the exercise I am to do more combining the two similar exercises into a single 30- to 45-minute exercise session.
Yes, am very much absorbed into cardiovascular fitness. The power walk can build a healthy heart as most people know. The heart is a muscle, when gets older, the heart can weaken from lack of use. During the power walk and jog, I try to move fast enough to get out of breath. When I breathe harder, my heart works harder and over time, gets strong. A strong heart enables me to stay active long, and maintains my heart health as I age. In addition, regularly exercising through walking or jogging will increase the amount of good cholesterol I have, which will help the blood in my arteries flow properly.

Sunday Master Final
Did not have time to watch all, but yesterday' final was exciting. MciLroy did not win over the green jacket, but Charl S did (b 1984, rsa). During those hours saw some wonderful eagles but not small numbers of missing goals.
Having been tired by working out the chapters of Judges, so missed many moments when watching. Anyhow, searched the web and found something wanting to note: (copied)
The Champions Dinner. It's the most exclusive dinner in all of golf, reserved only for Masters champions past and present and hosted by the reigning champion, who chooses the menu.
Facebook fan quotes:
"It's a tie... Masters past champions dinner (most recent winner gets to pick the menu... just so long as there's lots of meat!) and the fact that you can leave your stool anywhere on the course and NO ONE will touch it!" -- Jim Miller
"Champions Dinner is my favorite... I wonder what'll be on the menu next year." -- Scott Holcombe
Everything is green at The Masters. Sandwich wrappers, water bottles, bags of chips, cups, you name it - it's all green.
Facebook fan quote:
"The fact that everything within the fences is Master's Green... and that if you bring in a drink, you guys will let us keep it but pour it into a green cup! Also LOVE the skipping the balls on 16!" -- David Gordon

Westwood's 9.10pm at Masters today, Beatuful London
Watching the Masters, impressed by the 9.10pm Westwood's flying high little shot touching the green only 1 mtr away from the goal. Fisher is not doing so well yet, Ross is falling behind, Choi is 4.
The walk to the green was 3 miles, only played 25 balls, keep the health as No 1 as my mother keeps reminding me every day.
In this beautiful London April, apart from golf, one can not forget the "Dragonfoil and the Furnace of Colours" by Vernon Watkins.

The most important part in health - heart health (draft)
No good health, one would not enjoy particpating in good sports to a great extend.
check: Looking into iron intake, lamb liver soup,a bowl branflakes
Going to try stir fried giner lamb liver, with a side kimchi dish for blood building food - to add iron, hope the flavours will agree, thinking of a Sunday roasted beef/pork also good with kimchi...

Lent weeks charity work
This is a subject need to do more research on. Lent weeks encourage fasting and hard working. I add workload althought the cold is still there. This is the time to cheer up by the warm sunshine, the reminder of lives of suffering people, and the kindness received.
Ming Ai is a charity I have been supporting, the wonderful team of hard-working ladies, put "self reliance, to love is to serve " as their motto. The "British Chinese Food Project" launched on Wednesday, 16th March. This is the project with close link to Ms Ching - He Huang, the TV chef and entrepreneur.

Walk in the rain and in the sunshine
Gone through many walks in rain, in sunshine and in strong wind. The cold caught wasn't small, through good music helped out a bit, winter/early spring cold can be treated by good winter soups and doing simple way of my own food medicine.

Lost again!
Lost myself in the local and it took me 2 hours home from a place 45 mins' away. The cold has still not gone away completely, but the walking pattern has been supporting me to find my own way home and help cure the cold by brining out Vit D. In this beautiful sunday is important to have some time outdoor. So I beleive walking in the sunshine is a crucial healthy option if one can do it.

Walking away the mindloads
The training of walking has been support hugely my daily transporation alternative. Walking for 1.5 miles each way seem to be an enjoyable choice and it clears./changes the mindloads from whatever tasks/moods within. Great.

The sun - source of vitamin D.
Today is one of the warmest days after it turns Spring. The warm and bright sunshine encouraged me to walk although the cold is still not yet quite recovered. A 3 miles walk has absolved much sunshine, and I believe that it will bring up /form the Vit D.
Sun exposure to the skin is the human race’s natural, intended, most effective and most neglected source of vitamin D.
Vitamin D sufficiency, along with diet and exercise, has emerged as one of the most important preventive factors in human health. Hundreds of studies now link vitamin D deficiency with significantly higher rates of many forms of cancer‚ as well as heart disease‚ osteoporosis‚ multiple sclerosis and many other conditions and diseases.

The rule of law on golf (draft)
The tips of golf charity are still on the way of maturing further. Thanks for some friends contributing on either through their experienced ideas, or through their technical experience on reducing a few handicap numbers. The talk is there in the air, would be very pleased to see friends succeed in this area and expand to a greater scale, as it is on sports, including a few more, eg, crickets, rugby (can not forget the winning of Johnny Wilkinson on Saturday, England vs France, the great kick, so much wonderful performance, eg back to the 22nd November 2002, the champion wining over Australia.) The fair competition, the rule of law in golf, the good conducts by many sports professional, all are amazing to see.

早春二月 Birdsongs
This is a day that I felt it is a day in Spring season. It was very pleasant to do some T'aichi and stretching exercises in the park, it is half term this week in schools, saw some children, not a lot yet as it is still a bit cold. The highlights of today were birdsong time and the first lunch picnic. Had a timing sporting moment, 30 mins on birdsongs jogging, 30 mins a picnic in the sunshine. All worked well. While walking/jogging, heard birdsongs naturally in tune with water flowing from a small man- made water line, not quite a stream, surrounded 1/5 of the park, this is the low level of the park, but birds seem to like this section with more trees and shades, they had a concert together. It was only 30 mins as I could not afford more time today have to be in a disciplined mode in this season. The sunshine was warm, sitting on a bench facing the putting area, with a few ladies having their dogs around, had some light conversation to praise the warm weather. 30 mins picnic lunch worked out well, enjoyed the sunflowers seed roasted on the bread.
I wanted to sing a few words from the traditional Chinese opera, but forgot full sentences, only some words and some melodies. Will practise “牡丹亭”. Will find out some sporting music in the UK, must be interesting.

The long walk didn't work for curing a cold!
The long walk really didn't give a satisfactory cure to the cold- too old fashion originated in the 70s. However, the backup of apples, oranges, lemons and gingers' drinks helped a bit. The seafood lunch worked perfectly on Monday and it gave a boost to the health dramatically! In addition to it, fresh air, the pleasure to the eyes of the green made a further level of comfor to the first stage of my cold.
It is a basic thought for golfers, take apples, oranges, lemon and gingers' drinks regularly, the chilly air in the course hurts necks, breathing system and eventually can form a cold, so more Vit C and let more sunshine to bring out Vit D.

Overwalked
With too much walks, not sufficient nutritious foods and drink, eg for bones and blood iron food input does help the health balance, so plenty of oily fishes, good quality chicken soup, so not a good idea when you are too busy with no time to care about the nutrient balance particularly in Vitamins, iron and calcium input, need a helper for gentle reminders.

Good walk to cure a cold
The experiment seems to be working. The cold didn't develop further although with complication of the lack of required good hour sleep, but this is a good test in time, an interesting free drama to watch, not quite Shakespeare yet. My good friend quoted: “In times of trials, I am reminded of His Grace and it is sufficient for me. “ So it is the time for gratitude, setside the others.
The cold has been in control, with chicken soup, apples, and good refreshments, of course all wonderful friends concern, along with joggs/walks to generate natural body heat to stop the coldness inside.

not "春眠不觉晓"s time
Is the walking training helping me to stop a cold developing? I certainly hope so, but will know after 3 day's experiment from now. The rain on Sunday after the Bring and Share lunch was rather long, lasting for more than an hour. I thought it is healthy to walk a bit in the rain as it provided more oxygen than usual, unfortunately the high heel didn’t help the walk and semi jog, so I stopped for tea, found a new tea place, further on without much indulgence on tea in time; went to a place not too far from the Middlesex Golf club, but didn’t aim for spending time there, instead, to take a Scottish cold recipe with two sugar supplied by a nice girl in the Three Horseshoes, that helped stopping the development of a cold at the time.
Jogged home, immediately with hot shower head to toe, no bath as a bed is better after the heat generation.
This is very technical regarding heat to cure a cold, but that is the time in Spring for a good training. So today walked to SOAS for less than 2.5 hours reached the goal being there at 5pm, not a min’s late than planned. The result is bones are aching, but nature body heat seems to be back for one hour. Spring is the time for good physical trainings, not 春眠不觉晓’s time, it is time for a good and disciplined training.

"读万卷书,不如行万里路" by Du Fu, Tang Dynasty Poet
(the title is: "having read ten thousand books is not as good as having walked ten thousand miles "
More than two thousand years ago, it needed plenty of walking, so it would not be too wrong Kongzi 孔子 (Confucius) himself walked a lot, too, I think. Du Fu 杜甫, The Dang dynasty poet certainly did as he said, having read ten thousand books is not as good as having walked ten thousand miles (读万卷书,不如行万里路)( 行xing here actually means I would say “ travelled”, can be using different forms of transportation, not purely walking in this sense, but certainly one thousand years ago, transportation methods are very limited. but not purely walking in this sense anyway. I don't forget Su Dongpo, my literature hero, he likes his gentle sports, of course mores walkings in Hainan Island, Huizhou when he was away from his officialdom.
Have set an initial walking mileage goal before Easter. Today completed the planned miles. The green was very wet and muddy, but never mind, the main point in this season is still walking - this is the essentail training now.

孔子曰:发愤忘食,乐以忘忧,而不知老之将至。Confucius said (to himself)
孔子曰:发愤忘食,乐以忘忧,而不知老之将至。
Confucius said (to himself): working hard so forgetting to eat, being contended with joy so forgetting the sorrow, therefore not knowing old age is coming.
It is a great pity that not seeing much researches on Confucius's view on sports. I should remember that there are three ways to incease human capitals:
(this is on sports)
1. through producing,
2. through education,
3. through leisure.
I think for the sports charity now I would start from 3 focusing on walking before Easter, but will cover more 1 and 2 when find spare time to fit in my extremely busy timetable before Easter.

生命在于运动 -Life is in sports
生命在于运动 – Chairman Mao’s teaching
The helpful sports spirit works as everyone knows. That is the energy supports one’s daily life and cheers up the heart. Tonight walked fast in the chilly and wet early Spring evening to the evening teaching became such a joy (not to mention the happy two hours with my joyful, keen and polite students in the Mandarin class). Chairman Mao taught us in the new red China: 生命在于运动, that was childhood’s time teaching. Remember in the early 70s,glad to get up before 6am, ran to the “Peach Flower Floating Park 流花公园” for 40 mins, did the T’aichi, breathed in the freshest air, but never so easy to get a cold, that quiet, fresh, mysterious but safe time in the early mornings is still now in my collection of good sporting memories. This early training is now boosting the 2 miles per day sporting discipline, of course, not after a full CNY meal immediately though.

一年之计在于春,一日之计在于晨
Walking is part of a family holiday package. Traced back some of the nice walking memories were with my family in the mountains. We got up at 5am to listen to the Buddhism temple’s drum and bell music, and with the beauty of sunrise in front. Recently with my parents in yellow mountains for a week, the changing beauty of Yellow Mountain is so attractive and philosophical, as the clouds come and go, the sunrise and sunset taking turn day by day. What is one of the important things in mind from that holiday I established is to keep healthy and have more wonderful holidays! So the walks with like-minded,friends and relatives will be easy to achieve:) simply logic, that only requires persistence, do it every day! Particularly in Spring,一年之计在于春,一日之计在于晨, time for a good walk, when the weather turns warmer, back to puttings.

Lost in the city in the morning today
I lost myself in the city before 10.30am,arrived at Bank before 10am, but spent half an hour to find the place only less than 5 mins away. Have not been easy being an early morning person in winter in London due to the late sunrise, or no sun all day. This is the season for a change; it is time to appreciate the sunrise, the fresh air, and the good cup of tea or coffee - so time to be a morning person in the Spring! Some memory last winter turned me to expect more into the green, the streams and new books and more good walks. Some memories collected from Xmas, new year and the CNY are generally great, although with a momentum sense of loss in the context of homeland on day one of CNY. Anyhow, the conversation with my Chinese literature hero Su Dongpo (Born in Song dynasty), his words bought me back to the realistic for a while, on day two CNY, I added: make a home where is 6,000 miles away is rather interesting, the embrace with different cultures that is crucial in the century, isn’t it?
When in the city life, one can imagine the countrylife for a while, a least something to put the mind to peace in the nature, one can picture the old days, such as Mr Su, he walked every morning around the country roads after the green tea breakfast, watered his bamboo gardens, looked after the plum flowers trees, read under the pine trees, and talked to chrysanthemums while the stream was running along his house, then played his music. Did he play much sports, no much as we do now, but he played chess very well, the other type of relaxation.
Transportation is much greater than the Su Dongpo time, one can take a train to the real countryside during the weekend, is it not something that can be valued? such as the development of railways, aeroplanes, that link people around and pass the joy, talents, differences to enjoy? Su may like to travel more if he were here after this 1,000 years. The loss and found sentiments are always around people. The busy life in morden time can easily lose oneself, but find oneself afterwards, isn't it like the surprise like finding the lost golf ball in the bushes?
(Today, attended the talk by Dr. Donald Carson in St. Helen’s Church, Bishopsgate, EC3)

102 Elsie McLean hit a hold-in-one
It is the 2nd day of CNY. Full of joy and gratitude to all relatives and friends.
Ms McLean's way of longevity is interesting to look at, surely with fresh air and walks certainly are good for the heart (heart disease is the biggest killer, didn't know until a knowledgeble friend corrected me 3 years ago.)
So this 2011, good walks (with God's love), cultures, relaxed foods and wines will contribute to good health:)

Chinese New Year
Now it is getting into the CNY season, busy celebrating with friends in London, the happy gethering is a wonderful joy as no difference from a good walk, no difference from having fresh air in a golf course, no difference from letting the green to keep eyes healthy. (I know it is silly to say something like that, just making it relevant to sports training). Friendship is the deep fountain of happiness, true and lasting friendship is the important part in life. Now it is time to take time out to treasure them further in the CNY period.

Breathing training through a good swing
Went for a morning walk/jog, checked the putting area was not ready. The gardener is taking a long holiday, a good job in the UK I guess.
Putting needs good combination of relaxation with extreme tension and focus. I practise this when I am doing T'aichi, tight in stance and fists, but keep them loose and relaxed, I learnt today to let my fist relaxed right up until the moment of impact of ball.
Next learning:
Breathing in for the first part of the swing and breathing out as I power through the ball- healthy for the lung and heart.

Jan learning and a golfer 's character
Again the same saying, this Jan month lacking sunshine, a good conversation, a good reading, a good meal are positive factors to beat the blues.
(after reading about Westwood and Saltman story)
I hope that Golf should be a game of fair and civility. Through the game, can develop and appreciate other's good character, such as honor, will, strength, and courage are essential to life, have direction and accessible goals, appreciate the goodness in others and never dwell on negative actions.

To anwser to-be doctors questions
Writing to the to- be doctors who asked me questions, and to those who don’t want to see doctors too often:)
Why golf, not Pingpong or more tennis? I love playing PP, too, when I am in China as so many people play them and it is such a good exercise while with the community in mind, on health, to work out the balance of hands and feet, but that great deal of running in PP makes me difficult as now I am pretty slow in running, and my breathing system was born weak so difficult to run too much. What I find out the benefit I obtain from golf is my eyesight has been improved; my lung is stronger than before. Breathing in fresh air is so supportive to my good health. Friends say you want to live to 104 years old, is it a good way reach that goal? My answer is that a goal is a goal but the action is more important. Doing it is much more important than just only saying it. 104 is not an easy number to reach, that requires extreme fresh and clean air and a joyful lifestyle, so I want to spend more time in fresh and clean air and have a joyful lifestyle, that means the charity work can be done as usual:)doctors can take a small tea break when so many charities around?

Putting in a local park
Today’s 3 miles walk didn’t help the putting at all, my hands and feet are not as firm as before the walk. So the conclusion is, do not walk that much before the putting. The local park is such a useful place for a good walk and some loose putts. I always like the British parks, some of them generously providing tennis courts, putting areas and being maintained properly. I have been seeing the gardener carefully clear the putting area and improve the quality of the grass; I guess there might be some grass foods sprays being used, if not, at least some good cuts that help healthy growth. Weather is turning warm and a bit bright from a few days ago, and it is nearly mid Jan, a good walk in the local park while bringing my putter for a small practice is such a useful way to beat the Jan blues:) as that helps take away the neck stress suffered from using computer lengthily.
Pilates and golf training - stability

Pilates system and stability
Tom Watson 's saying really encourages the training side, the persistency spirits. So here is to work out some training programes. I have mentioned about a system, T'aichi (Taiji), and now to study the Pilates system and will possibly to do a comparative study. Have watched PS on DVD demonstration, this coming week will need to take time to understand more and to practise a bit.
It is a fact that golfers need to think about the way they use their bodies. From Tom Waston's point of view, the more successful players can account a substantial amount of success down to their training, and the failures are counted, the hard journey places a path to better golf playing, this is not all a new point anyway.
As mentioned before, one approach to this training is core stability, in other words, the Pilates system, which golfers can adapt to quite easily can supply some core skills for this stability training. Pilates is all about focus and so is golf; it is about movement from the centre of the body and using these muscles for control, and so is golf. What I need to find out is, what is the role of breathing skills in Pilates, and how does apply to golf. This can be the 2nd stage for time as stability is the core in PS. Studying it from a different point, one should note that the core technique of T’aichi is the techniques of breathing.

Great golf talent: Tom Watson
On charity, theoretical and empirical research is also needed. To be focused, not to be distracted to a different direction, to recap, as my recent task is set for golf charity, in actions, will play with a group of friends, to achieve through team work.
Now after a delicious lunch, some ideas came up to me more than having read ten books today. The wonderful golfer to mention about should be Tom Watson, here brings up a quotation from him:
Tom Watson: "If you want to increase your success rate, double your failure rate."

Concentration training - healthy golf, not championship golf
At this stage what is in my mind is more about healthy golf, not Championship golf. This is not about competition, not about winning, it is about health keeping.
It is a good way to improve concentration by putting some balls, the more I practise, the more I feel the benefits. Now outdoor can be a bit cold apart from some good hours, so practise indoor by moving the putter, with some T'aichi thought, such as paying attention to the shoulders' move, standing firm. A good routine keeps one mentally happy, that can partly beat the Jan blues:), even writing the method, also can improve the actual putt, that is what the T'aichi techniques say, to picture, to imagine the move, as one can play T'aichi in the dreams,(the breath in and out control), and it is the same, one can imagine putting in the dreams.
T'aichi masters move lightly, some Taoist(very often they are good at TJ)can climb mountains much easier, as they use Chi (energy)appropriately, and have excellent concentration.

Putting with T'aichi tech (ref temp)
Putting
"Stillness is the master of motion"
Awareness, the only path to continual improvement, is available when you can unite your mind and body – and this can best be achieved through a foundational teaching of T'ai Chi, which advocates the development of stillness as the way to master the art of movement.
In putting more than any other aspect of the game, the more relaxed and rooted you feel when standing still over the shot, the greater your chance of success when you actually strike the ball. Also, the more relaxed and rooted you feel, the more deeply you will start to breathe, leaving your mind peaceful and free of self-interference.
With chi-power GOLF you will learn ancient standing meditation drills to master stillness, fully relax your body and sink your energy into the ground, giving you a firm root from which to putt. You will also find that your mental game develops in unison with your putting stroke, as you learn how to breathe more deeply, relax and take your shots with a greater sense of freedom and confidence in your abilities.

Busy January range
Don't seem having the Jan blues yet, but to prevent from the normal problem the paper claims, I keep the 2 miles walking per day. Today did 4 miles, can I sit at home all day tomorrow :)? The actual reply is no, I will go to my church, miss all the friends there!
The range was busy, not a single slot was free when I was in, so I did simple task and walked out, found an aromas filled cake shop on the way back and had an afternoon tea break.

The benefits of walking
It is also my understanding that walking a golf course is good for health, good for the course's health and good for the game's health.
Researchers show the fact:(source: http://golf.about.com/cs/golffitness/a/walkinggolf.htm)
As for those scientific studies: Among others, researchers in Sweden found that walking golf equated to 40-percent to 70-percent of the intensity of a maximum aerobic workout (assuming 18 holes played). In another, cardiologist Dr. Edward A. Palank's study showed that walking golfers reduced their levels of bad cholesterol while keeping their good cholesterol steady; the control group of riding golfers failed to show those good results.
Also, according to Golf Science International, a researcher named Gi Magnusson calculated that four hours of playing golf while walking is comparable to a 45-minute fitness class.
Another study done at the Rose Center for Health and Sports Sciences in Denver, Colo., concluded that walking nine holes on a hilly course is equivalent to a walk of 2.5 miles, compared to 0.5 miles when using a cart. And that a golfer who walks 36 holes a week is burning nearly 3,000 calories (see full summary of study in the article "Guess what - golf is good for you").

To beat the Jan blues - walking 2 miles per day
Failed to the putting area due to busy work in the library, but walking training is going strong and will remain so for the whole 2011. Physical strength is rather important to maintain a strong immune system.

The left wrist fault (high handicap players)
Noted that probably the most common fault among high-handicap players is the breaking down of the left wrist, this is also the most difficult fault to cure. I try on a full swing, my left forearm or my whole left arm must move with care through the shot. It is important to keep my hands ahead of - or at least even with - the clubhead until the ball is gone.
Last golfing 2010 welcoming the 2011 (draft)

My last 2010 golfing to welcome 2011 was in Bournemouth. It was cold but kept warm with all the kits, eg gloves, scarf, hats, lamb wool jumpers and two cups of strong tea! I felt comfortable to hit more than 100 balls. The old fashion range provides balls through the delivery machine to the tee, so I used the wood. This time what was important for me was to train up the neck movement - that is NO move at all, otherwise the ball will go either sliced or hooked, I guess.
There is still a problem with my wrists twists.
